About COSTECH HEET Project
The Higher Education for Economic Transformation Project is designed to strengthen the capacity of our higher education institutions to contribute effectively to national development goals. By While the focus of the project in Higher Learning Institutions is aligning academic programs with industry needs, fostering research and innovation, and promoting entrepreneurship among students and faculty with the overall objective of creating a robust pipeline of skilled graduates and innovative solutions that can propel Tanzanian economy forward.
Through the HEET project COSTECH aims to foster the linkage between research and development institutions, high learning institutions, and the private sector. The weak linkage lead to poor collaboration and uptake of research and innovation outputs. Furthermore, performance of the national research and technological development excellence and capacity have not been as expected due to number of factors such as lack of proper functioning systems, infrastructure and frameworks.
Since its inception, COSTECH has thrived to support research, development and transfer of appropriate technologies with the resources availed from the Government and development partners. It is evidently that the Commission has been receiving considerably huge number of funding requests researchers and innovators throughout the year compared to the available resources.
The HEET project is expected to strengthen innovation environment in higher education, labor market orientation and management of Higher Education in respect to research and Innovation. Primary task will be to facilitate uptake of innovations and other research outputs for economic transformation.
